Restorative Exercise Inc.

Restorative Exercise™ is the creation of Katy Santiago. While working towards her Master's degree in the physics of human movement, she noticed a lack of specific exercise prescription. While exercise is part of the medical prescription for most diseases, "go out there and start exercising" is not specific enough to reap the benefits of whatever clinical trial the recommendation is based on.

For example, pelvic floor disorder responds well to exercise, as shown by many clinical trials. However the research results were based on a specific exercise program - not just fitness exercise as we commonly think of it.
Exercise is also shown to prevent many types of disease - but it has to be specific to the mechanics of the situation. Another example; It's true that exercise will decrease the incidence of osteoporosis, but only if certain mechanical factors are met. Heart rate is not one of these factors, but strain rate (how fast you load the bones) is.
Fundamental to any Restorative Exercise™ program is the notion that you should know why you are doing it. Knowledge is power! If you know WHY your spine and pelvis should be oriented in such a way (and there is a very specific place it should be to decrease risk factors for certain diseases...) you are much more likely to change movement habits ALL THE TIME, not just during a bout of "exercise".

While an exercise can certainly not be private property, the concepts behind Restorative Exercise™ and the certification for Restorative Exercise™ can. This maintains the integrity of the program as we intend to publish clinical trials based on these programs and eventually have them covered in the insurance world!
